Ever since the inception of AEW back in January of 2019, The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) have been with the promotion and they even built the company to what it is today in such a short period of time, that being the second biggest pro wrestling company in the world. The Young Bucks have been out of in-ring action since Full Gear, when they teamed up with Adam Cole to go up against Christian Cage and Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus) in a Falls Count Anywhere Match, in which they came out of on the losing end.
It was revealed on a recent episode of the “Being The Elite” YouTube show that The Young Bucks is not medically cleared to compete as Nick Jackson has been working through an injury on his heel, which he further damaged at Full Gear, while Matt Jackson is dealing with a neck injury.
There is no word yet on when The Young Bucks will return to in-ring action, but Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that The Young Bucks have signed a new contract with the promotion that will keep them there at least until 2026. Bryan Alvarez would then provide an update and note that Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson actually signed a two-year contract extension with AEW, which will start on January 1st, 2022 and will keep them with the company until 2024.
The Young Bucks held the AEW World Tag Team Titles for 302 days after defeating FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) at the 2020 Full Gear PPV, but then lost them to current champions The Lucha Brothers at the All Out PPV this past September.
