All Elite Wrestling has had quite a number of their top stars suffer from an injury over the past few months, including reigning AEW World Champion CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega. At the Double Or Nothing PPV, CM Punk got the biggest win of his entire AEW career, when he defeated “Hangman” Adam Page to become the brand-new AEW World Champion, but just days after his massive victory, The Best In The World made an appearance on an episode of AEW Rampage and delivered some heart-breaking news that he has suffered an injury that requires surgery and due to that, he will be out of in-ring action for quite some time.
Bryan Danielson was set to make an appearance at a fan meet-and-greet this past Month in New Bedford, Massachusetts, but he was unable to appear as according to Fightful Select, Bryan was dealing with an undisclosed injury and due to that he was unable to fly. Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com then revealed that Danielson would suffer an injury in the Anarchy In The Arena Match at Double Or Nothing, but his injury doesn’t look to be anything of major concern and he will not be kept out of in-ring action for a very long period of time.
Kenny Omega has been out of in-ring action since this past November’s Full Gear PPV, when he lost the AEW World Championship to “Hangman” Adam Page as he has had quite a number of injuries that needed to be surgically repaired and he needed to divert his attention on rehabbing those nagging injuries. The Cleaner has been so frustrated from his number of injuries that he even said a little while back that if he had one more setback, then that could lead to his retirement from pro wrestling altogether, but a major angle is reportedly being planned for Omega and his eventual return to action and those plans are for Kenny Omega to team with The Young Bucks as part of a Trios team for the All Out PPV Event on September 4th, but there has been no confirmation yet and there’s no word yet if this will be for the AEW World Trios Titles.
Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that current AEW World Champion CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega are hoping to be healed up in time for All Out, but it’s too soon to say and everything is up in the air right now, though that is AEW’s target as of now and it will be a huge deal for AEW if all three of them do return. Meltzer also said The Cleaner does not want to talk about it, but he really wants to be back for All Out.
This is what Dave Meltzer said:
“I mean, he’s [Omega] hoping to be at All Out, but it’s too soon to say that he will or he won’t. He’s hoping for it. I mean, that’s kind of the target right now. The Chicago show, I think, is the target for that, I think it’s the target for Punk, but I don’t know that either of them are sure things.”
“Also, it’s probably the target for Danielson, too. All those guys coming back would probably give them a shot in the arm, but Omega basically was, he doesn’t want to talk about it, and nothing’s for sure but he would like to be back for that show. That would be a good idea.”
