Tony Khan Confirms Date & Location Of ROH’s Death Before Dishonor

As previously reported, fans have been wondering since ROH’s Supercard Of Honor PPV last April 1 when the promotion’s next PPV will take place and according to PWInsider.com, ROH’s next big PPV should be announced soon as the seeds of the PPV was already been planted during this past Friday’s AEW Rampage episode, when Tully Blanchard issued a challenge to ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham for his title and it appears that Jonathan Gresham will be defending his title against Brian Cage in the main event of that upcoming PPV. It was also mentioned on the report that the announcers for the event will more than likely remain the same with Caprice Coleman and Ian Riccaboni calling the action.

Fightful Select then reported that AEW wrestlers were told Tony Khan is looking to hold the ROH Death Before Dishonor PPV on the weekend of July 23 in Lowell, Massachusetts, which is the site of a number of past ROH Events, including ROH’s 2017 Best In The World PPV Event and that this would line up with the company’s Dynamite scheduled to take place in Worcester, Massachusetts on July 27. There was also a mention on the report that despite ROH having a potential return to PPV, there was no update on ROH returning to TV and that ROH potentially holding a PPV Event on the weekend of July 23 is potentially connected to NJPW moving an event from July 24 to a week earlier on July 17.

All Elite Wrestling President and CEO Tony Khan took part in a media scrum immediately following this past Sunday night’s Forbidden Door Event and revealed that ROH’s Death Before Dishonor PPV Event will be taking place on Saturday, July 23rd from the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts, with the PPV Event airing live on B/R Live. This will be the second PPV Event that ROH has had under the ownership of Tony Khan, with their first-ever show taking place last April 1 during WWE WrestleMania 38 weekend headlined by Johnathan Gresham battling Bandido in a Winner Takes All Matchup to crown the Undisputed ROH World Champion. ROH’s Death Before Dishonor Event next month will be the 19th edition of the PPV, which was held every year since 2003, with the exception of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All current ROH champions are expected to compete on the PPV with ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham last competing for AEW at the Battle Of The Belts II Event last April, where he successfully defended his championship against Dalton Castle and ROH World TV Champion Samoa Joe, ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta and ROH World Tag Team Champions FTR regularly appearing on AEW television since last April. ROH Women’s World Mercedes Martinez, on the other hand, has defended her ROH Women’s World Title a number of times on AEW Dark: Elevation.
