Tony Khan Defends AEW After Comments From Dave Meltzer

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and Radio recently took to Twitter and responded to a fan who said that they shouldn’t have watched NJPW before AEW Dynamite last Wednesday night. Meltzer said to never watch NJPW right before any other promotion. Always watch it last. Meltzer also said,

“Watch NJPW and everything after looks way too contrived in comparison.”

All Elite Wrestling President and CEO Tony Khan would then take to Twitter after Meltzer’s comments and said that the company has tried to set a standard by frequently opening with great matches they believe can stand up beside whatever anyone has watched prior.

He also said that he wasn’t trying to dunk on or disrespect Dave, he was just surprised that’s his rule, and surprised he’d imply everyone should watch in that order.

Also I wasn’t trying to dunk on or disrespect Dave (I respect him a lot) or minimize his opinions (which I often agree with). He’s entitled to watch any show he wants in any order. I was just surprised that’s his rule, and surprised he’d imply everyone should watch in that order.
