Tony Khan Given Creative Control Of AAA Tag Team Title Match

This past Friday’s ROH Supercard Of Honor XV Event saw FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) defeat Mark Briscoe and Jay Briscoe of The Briscoes to capture the ROH World Tag Team Championships and to become a double champion. An announcement was previously made that FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) is set to defend both their AAA and ROH World Tag Team Titles on this coming Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite against The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson).

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that AAA has given AEW President and CEO Tony Khan total control and the decision in regards to the upcoming matchup between FTR and The Young Bucks and despite the fact that it will be AAA’s World Tag Team Titles that will be defended, AEW CEO Tony Khan has been given the decision to choose who he wants to book as the winner.

FTR last defended their AAA Tag Team Championships against Dragon Lee and Dralistico at a Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide Show in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. FTR has been wanting to face The Young Bucks since the two teams faced each other at the 2020 Full Gear Event, where The Young Bucks defeated FTR and became the AEW World Tag Team Champions. FTR and The Young Bucks have exchanged worlds on social media since then and have even taken shots at each other, but it is only now that AEW President and CEO Tony Khan has booked their highly-anticipated rematch.

Cash Wheeler said during an interview with Barstool Rasslin’ that their match against The Young Bucks was inevitable to happen at some point and they have waited a long time since their first matchup and have even learned to be patient when it comes to this, but it all boils down to who is the better tag team between themselves and The Young Bucks.
