Tony Khan Says Big Announcements Are Coming For The Owen Hart Foundation

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan recently appeared on an episode of Busted Open Radio, where he talked about Dynamite moving to TBS starting January 5th, but AEW Rampage remaining on TNT for the long haul and how it’s going to be a win-win for the company because to show AEW programming on these two great networks will be really good for the promotion in the long run.

This is what Tony Khan said:

“It’s going to work out great. I think tonight you’ll see Rampage on TNT, and Rampage is going to stay on TNT for the long term. Dynamite moving to TBS I think is a win-win. First of all, it worked out very well for us financially. It’s great to be able to keep Rampage on TNT also which got similar penetration. It’s a win-win for us, I think, to be across these two great networks. WCW, again, two decades ago had a really good run on both networks.”

“To have that penetration, two separate audiences I think is great. There is a sports audience on Friday night. TNT has got a little bit more history of sports. There’s some places where frankly after a Thursday NBA game, some of the sports bars across this country, Friday night, they already have TNT on the TV. I think it makes a lot of sense to have both networks in play for us. I’m really excited. Rampage will be on TNT for the long haul, and I’m very excited about Dynamite in January making that move to TBS, but both shows are on TNT for a while.”

Tony Khan then talked about the Owen Hart Foundation and how much it means to All Elite Wrestling and what a great opportunity this will be for the company to celebrate Owen’s life. Tony Khan also talked about how the Owen Hart Foundation will be established as something which is very special for AEW and something which will be an annual tradition and how people are really going to be excited about their big plans for the Foundation, which will be coming in due time.

This is what Tony Khan said:

“This is going to be a tremendous event. It’s a great partnership with Martha Hart and the Owen Hart foundation. Martha is a very principled woman, to say the least. She is a very intelligent woman. She thought long and hard about this, and we talked for a long time about this. I talked to Martha about this for over a year on a regular basis. She put a lot of thought into it, and we put a lot of thought into it. That’s how this came together. She’s a really good person, and I think she wanted to make sure we’re good people too. I really like Martha a lot. You can’t say enough great things about the legacy of Owen Hart, how much it means to so many of us, and what a great opportunity this is to celebrate his life. We’ve had this in the works for a long time.”

“The Owen, I think, can be a very special prize in wrestling. I think people are going to want to win The Owen. I believe we will really establish that as a very special thing in AEW, and a very special annual tradition. I’m excited to tell people more about that. I’ve got a few match announcements and a few big booking plans up my sleeve that I’m excited for people to find out about. That’s all coming I think in due time, and the Owen Hart announcement is really, really big for us. When we get through this huge night tonight on Friday Night Rampage, I think next week we will have a lot of cool stuff when the dust settles.”
