It seems that two upcoming episodes of AEW Dynamite scheduled to take place in May as well as in June won’t be airing on its normal time slot as Dave Meltzer revealed on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the Wednesday, May 26th episode of Dynamite is being moved to Friday, May 28 at 10PM.
It was also revealed that the current plan is for the tapings to run from 8PM until midnight at Daily’s Place, with two hours of Dark being taped prior to Dynamite, with a live crowd followed by two hours of Dynamite going live.
This episode of Dynamite is a massive show as it’s the go-home show of the 2021 Double Or Nothing PPV, which is set to take place on Sunday, May 30th.
Dave Meltzer also revealed that the Wednesday, June 6th episode of Dynamite will take place on either Friday, June 4th, or Saturday, June 5th as it all depends on the NBA game that airs on TNT, but AEW’s flagship show Dynamite is more likely to take place on Friday, June 4th.
It was also revealed that if AEW Dynamite goes live on June 4th, then a taping will take place on June 5th for the Wednesday, June 9th episode of Dynamite as well as the Dark and Dark: Elevation episodes that would air the following week on Monday, June 14th and Tuesday, June 15th.
This is what Dave Meltzer said:
“they’d be taping on 6/5 if they go live 6/4, doing the 6/9 show and for Dark and Dark Elevation on 6/14 and 6/15.”
Even though Dynamite will be airing on a Friday night due to the NBA Playoffs, they will not go head-to-head with WWE’s SmackDown on FOX as the show begins at 10PM. The promotion was also forced to move an episode of Dynamite last year due to the NBA Playoffs, which saw the show air on a Saturday night.
