AEW World Champion Kenny Omega has been one of the most successful and active wrestlers in the modern pro wrestling era as he currently holds three major championship titles in three of the top wrestling companies in the world, but his success and hard work also comes with sacrifices and injuries as Dave Meltzer previously revealed that the AEW World Champion has been hurting pretty badly due to a number of different injuries.
At the Double or Nothing PPV Event, Kenny Omega sliced up his hand that resulted in him needing seven stitches to close the wound. The AEW World Champion had reportedly also been dealing with a deep bone bruise near his tailbone, the normal wear and tear on his knees, and an athletic hernia and a stomach virus.
Dave Meltzer then said that Omega revealed on the Double or Nothing Fan Fest that there are days when he wakes up and walks around, thinking that it will be the day he decides to hang up his boots and to retire because his body is feeling worse daily. It was also noted that according to Omega having real fans in the crowd has always made him feel a lot better while performing.
An update was recently provided on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Omega has been doing better as of late, which was seen when he successfully retained his AEW World Title on Saturday’s episode of Dynamite over Jungle Boy. Of all the issues Kenny Omega was dealing with, the athletic hernia was the worst as it really took a toll on him, but the AEW World Champion reportedly received treatments such as stem cell treatment and PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) therapy that has really helped him in a massive way and that has really made “a world of difference.”
Kenny Omega will defend his IMPACT World Title against Sami Callihan at the promotion’s Slammiversary Event on Saturday, July 17th. Kenny Omega will then defend his AAA Mega Title against fellow AEW Star Andrade El Idolo at AAA’s TripleMania XXIX Event on Saturday, August 14th in Mexico City.
