As previously reported, DDT Pro Wrestling, a promotion based in Japan, had their 25th Anniversary PPV last Sunday from Tokyo, Japan and during the show, Christopher Daniels, AEW’s VP of Talent Relations, made a huge announcement that AEW has formed a brand-new working relationship with DDT Pro Wrestling, in which top talents from the promotion will be traveling to the United States to wrestle for AEW and he said this will also be the perfect opportunity to introduce the top talents from DDT Pro Wrestling to the American wrestling fanbase in All Elite Wrestling.
AEW Star Michael Nakazawa, who also competed at this past Sunday’s DDT Pro Wrestling 25th Anniversary Show, when he lost an I’m Sorry Match to DDT President Sanshiro Takagi, revealed right after the bout that he and AEW EVP Kenny Omega reached a deal for the two promotions to work together.
Dave Meltzer mentioned on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that AEW EVP Kenny Omega played a huge role in the formation of the working relationship between All Elite Wrestling and DDT Pro Wrestling, especially due to the fact that Omega is close personal friends with people within both companies and the working relationship includes Tokyo Joshi Pro, which will allow more talent to work together in a cross-promotion type of arrangement.
All Elite Wrestling EVP Kenny Omega took to his Twitter and commented on the working relationship and how DDT Pro Wrestling has been the best-kept secret in pro wrestling for over a decade, so we must be ready as the next generation of pro wrestlers is looking to leave an impact. Omega actually began his rise to super stardom and started to make a name for himself in DDT Pro Wrestling as that is where he formed the Golden Lovers tag team with NJPW’s Kota Ibushi and ended up winning several titles in both the tag team division and the singles division.
All Elite Wrestling has worked with several pro wrestling promotions in the past such as IMPACT, NJPW and the NWA and with the recent news that AEW President and CEO Tony Khan has purchased ROH, it would be interesting to see how the company goes about their working relationship with DDT and what is next for AEW.
