Why The Kenny Omega vs. Jungle Boy AEW Title Match Was Moved

After successfully retaining his AEW World Championship against PAC and Orange Cassidy in a Three-Way Match at the Double or Nothing PPV, AEW World Champion Kenny Omega is now set to defend his AEW World Title against Jungle Boy in a matchup that was originally scheduled to take place on the Friday, June 11th Dynamite episode, but has now been moved to the Saturday, June 26th Dynamite episode.

Dave Meltzer mentioned on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that AEW President and CEO Tony Khan told him that the reason he wanted the Omega vs. Jungle Boy AEW World Title matchup to take place on the June 26th episode of Dynamite is he wanted the show to be “spectacular.” Meltzer also revealed that the June 26th Dynamite episode will be taped live and the promotion will be having one more Dynamite show in Jacksonville before they go back to touring. Another reason why the matchup was moved to the June 26th Dynamite episode is to reportedly prevent spoilers from popping up.

As previously reported, this week’s Dynamite episode, which will air on a Friday night as well as the Saturday, June 19th Dynamite episode were taped with no fans in the audience, while the June 26th AEW Dynamite episode was taped live. It was not revealed if the episodes of Dark and Dark: Elevation were taped with or without fans in the crowd.
