Young Bucks Wanted To Wait Another Year To Win Tag Titles

During this past Saturday night’s Full Gear PPV Event, in what was described as one of, if not the best tag team match in the history of professional wrestling. The Young Bucks came out on top and won the AEW World Tag Team Championships from the former AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR.

The match had a mixture of the best professional wrestling moves in the history of the pro wrestling business from high-flying to technical to ground-based.

Even finishers from past legendary tag teams such as the Steiner Brothers and the Hardy Boyz were used in the match with the Young Bucks becoming the brand-new AEW World Tag Team Champions.

The Young Bucks recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated to discuss their massive AEW World Tag Team Championship win and revealed that they actually wanted to wait another year before capturing the title belts.

This is what The Young Bucks said:

“If we’d won them right away, there wouldn’t have been a struggle for our characters.” “We actually wanted to hold back for another year, so winning now was a Tony [Khan] call, but I’m glad it happened at the pay-per-view. It felt special, and winning it from FTR in this rivalry, in a match we never thought would happen, took it over the top.”
