AEW Dynamite Results (01/29): Cleveland, Ohio

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite opens up with an intro video.

We then get a recap of last week’s episode aboard Chris Jericho’s Cruise, where we see The Young Bucks double superkick MJF and throw him into the pool. We then get a video hyping up all of the matches and segments that will be taking place on the show. Commentary then welcomes us to the show.

Jon Moxley then makes his entrance through the crowd, while still wearing an eyepatch. He then gets on the mic and says that after getting stabbed in the eye, he realized that the fun and games with AEW World Champion Chris Jericho are over. Moxley then notes that he and Jericho will meet for the AEW World Title at Revolution on February 29th. He then says that he is one match away from the top of the mountain, but it is more than that. Moxley then says that Jericho is the kind of man who hides behind his guys, spikes his eye and does other bad stuff he has done in the past (like punching a woman, referring to when Jericho punched Shawn Michaels’ wife on WWE). Moxley then says that he is not perfect, but he does live by a code and can look at himself in the mirror. Moxley then calls Jericho a manipulator, a liar, a coward and a bully.

Moxley then says that he hates bullies and he plans on taking the AEW World Title home. Moxley then says, “Chris, it’s not about the kind of man you are, it’s about the kind of man you’re not.” Moxley then says that he realizes the Inner Circle is going to try and take him out before the PPV. Moxley then says that Jericho should just come out tonight and take his ass beating, like a man. Le Champion’s music hits and out comes Chris Jericho. The crowd boos. Jericho then responds with, “typical Cleveland idiots.” Jericho then reminds Moxley that all he had to do is say “yes” to his offer about joining the Inner Circle. Jericho then says that Moxley is stupid, then brings up Moxley’s mother. Jericho then says, “She was looking especially fetching, maybe I’ll give her a call later.”

Jericho then says that he apologized to her about what happened to Moxley, but ultimately it was Moxley’s fault for not accepting the keys to the castle. Jericho then says that if Moxley wants to fight tonight, “go to hell.” The crowd boos. Jericho then says that he always travels with his boys and calls out the rest of the group. Moxley then counts five guys and lets Jericho know that it is not five against one, mentioning that he was born and raised in Ohio, it is five against him and the entire arena. Moxley then walks up the ramp towards the group. Jericho then says that he knew Moxley would want to fight, so they brought some more guys. Now there’s 10 guys on the stage and they walk down to Moxley. Ortiz leads the way with an ax handle. Moxley just hits him with a headbutt / DDT and jumps at the group. Referees and security are out to keep everyone separated. Moxley drops one of the security guys and heads back up through the crowd. Jericho barks at him from the ring to end the segment.

Commentary then runs down the rest of the show.

We then see a video clip of MJF and Wardlow meeting with the Butcher, the Blade and the Bunny in a butcher’s abattoir, passing them an envelope marked “Young Bucks” that’s presumably full of cash. They then head out.

All of them then make their entrances to send us to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and MJF has joined the commentary desk for the first match of the evening.

The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) def. The Butcher and The Blade (Andy Williams and Pepper Parks) via pinfall with the Meltzer Driver on The Blade. After the match, The Butcher attacks from behind. Out runs Kenny Omega, who hits a v-trigger on The Butcher. A tipsy Hangman Page follows, hands his beer over to Matt Jackson, hits the buckshot lariat on The Blade, takes the beer, drinks it and goes to the back.

We then get a house ad for AEW Revolution.

We then get the entrances for the next match of the evening.

Nyla Rose def. ”Big Swole” Aerial Monroe via pinfall with a sit-out powerbomb.

We then get a house ad for AEW’s merch store.

We then get the entrances for the next match of the evening.

Cody Rhodes def. Kip Sabian via pinfall with several Cross Rhodes. After the match, Cody Rhodes celebrates a bit and then gets to toss his weight belt into the crowd.

We then get a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we get a recap from last week of Dr. Britt Baker, DMD’s promo on Tony Schiavone.

Britt Baker comes out to the stage to talk with Tony Schiavone. Baker says that she is not offended by what happened, but was actually happy with what happened, they (well, she) was trending after their segment. She then takes the microphone from Schiavone, then calls out Jim Ross for talking over her on commentary and going to break. Baker then says that Jim Ross is “smug and pretentious of her division and her division, while he sits there and we do all work.” She then tells Jim Ross to be who he once was, not a “sloppy BBQ salesman who can’t get the roster’s names straight.” The crowd then boos Baker pretty good. She then talks trash about Riho. Baker then tells Schiavone to pick up a toothbrush to fix that moderate gingivitis. She then lets Cleveland know “You finally have a ‘Baker’ you can trust in.”

We then head backstage where The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega are interviewed. The Young Bucks say that they haven’t forgotten about the Dark Order, but they are happy about the win tonight. The Young Bucks then say that ultimately, they just want to climb back to the top of the tag division. The Young Bucks say nothing personal to Omega. A tipsy Hangman Page then rolls in and shows off their new nameplates. Page then hands Matt and Nick their own nameplates and says, “You may need them someday.” Omega then thanks Page and tries to smooth things over. Omega then announces that next week it will be 8-Man tag action: Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Hangman Page vs. The Blade, The Butcher and a team of their choosing.

SCU then make their entrance as they will be in action after the commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and the next match of the evening is underway.

SCU (Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky) def. TH2 (Angelico and Jack Evans) via pinfall with SCU Later on Angelico. After the match, The Dark Order appear on the big screen and call Christopher Daniels out. Evil Uno then says that the Exalted One is unhappy with Daniels and has asked them to target his friends, family and his brothers in SCU. But who should they target first, Stu? Evil Uno then says that he doesn’t care, so consider this a warning.

We then head to a random location outside, where PAC says that Jon Moxley has made his bed and now he can lie in it. PAC then says that Moxley should have fun with the Inner Circle, and if there is anything left, he will come along and pluck his other eye out. PAC then talks about Kenny Omega, saying that he doesn’t like Omega’s arrogance. PAC then says, “We’re going to do everything at your convenience?” PAC then says that doesn’t work for him. PAC then says everything will happen on his timetable and starting next week, “I’m coming for blood.”

Commentary then hypes up next week’s show and we go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we get the entrances for the main event of the evening.

The Inner Circle (AEW World Champion Chris Jericho, Santana and Ortiz) def. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen) and Darby Allin via pinfall with Judas Effect from Chris Jericho on Isiah Kassidy. After the match, The Inner Circle is back in the ring and they beat up on Darby Allin and Private Party a bit more. Jericho then whips Allin and Quen with his title. Guevara then grabs Allin’s skateboard. Hager then with a knee strike to Allin. Guevara then smashes the skateboard into Allin’s stomach. He then jams Allin’s throat down on the skateboard. Santana mockingly then rides the skateboard and tries an ollie. They go for more. Moxley then runs down with a black baseball bat and swings away on everyone to clean house. Moxley then points the bat at Jericho who yells at Moxley from the ramp as the show comes to a close.
