AEW Dynamite Results (04/08): Undisclosed Location

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite opens up with a promo from Jake “The Snake” Roberts.

He starts by sitting down in a chair and saying, “My history will not be my destiny.” Jake Roberts then asks if someone steps in the ring, would think they have a prayer against Lance Archer. Roberts then says that if someone does, they are done. Roberts then says that we saw what happened to Marko Stunt last week and calls him an idiot for trying. Jake Roberts then tells Cody to not let tonight’s match against Shawn Spears slip, so that he doesn’t have to face Archer. Roberts then says, “Cody, are you a man or a mouse?”

We then see a number of AEW Stars at ringside including Gunn Club (Billy Gunn and Austin Gunn), Sammy Guevara, Jack Evans, Anna Jay, Jimmy Havoc and a few others.

We then see that Chris Jericho is on commentary with Tony Schiavone for tonight’s show.

We then get the entrances for the first match of the evening.

We then get the entrances for the next match of the evening.

Hikaru Shida def. Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D via pinfall with a sliding knee.

We then get a backstage segment with Kenny Omega and Michael Nakazawa.

Kenny Omega tells Michael Nakazawa that he is feeling super nostalgic since they have tagged in years. Omega then says that they need a tag name. Nakazawa then says “Best Friends!” Omega then says that they already have a team with that name. Nakazawa then says that Omega is an EVP, just change it. Omega then responds that he will think about it. Orange Cassidy then comes in randomly from a different room. Trent and Chuck Taylor then walk in and say that they heard everything and don’t appreciate the two trying to take their name and livelihood. Trent and Chuck Taylor then says that whoever wins the match, gets the name. They leave and Omega says that he is getting too old for this shit.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we get an ad for the Young Bucks’ book.

Excalibur then runs down this week’s AEW Rankings with Jake Hager, Hikaru Shida and The Dark Order at number one in their respective divisions.

We then see clips of him training. Hager’s wife then says that in their house they come back winners or don’t come back at all. Moxley then comments on how he hit Hager with his DDT, but found himself in an ankle lock real quick. Moxley then called that a humbling moment, but since this is a No Holds Barred Match, that changes things for Hager. Hager then says that Moxley will get hit harder than he has ever been hit before, and that he wants to be both Bellator and AEW World Champion.

We then go to a commercial break.

We then get another Dark Order video vignette, still featuring The Exalted One Brodie Lee.

Brodie Lee is seen driving up to a building to meet some of his followers. Lee is wearing a tie, but the other two are not. Lee calls them out for how they look. Lee then says that he wants to make every single life he touches, extraordinary, and says that how they look is important. Lee then tells them to get their act together and show him that they want it. Lee then tells the guy with a tie that he has an opportunity. Lee then heads into the building with the follower.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we get a video package about AEW’s efforts to help KultureCity and their campaign for autism inclusivity.

We then head backstage where a bloodied Britt Baker is asked about her match and if she thinks Hikaru Shida is number one in the division. Baker says no way, being number one is about being a leader and Shida is the dirtiest person she has been in the ring with. Baker then says that Shida is just lucky she didn’t mess up her teeth, but she could have fixed them anyways because she is a dentist.

We then get another video package hyping up the Empty Arena No Holds Barred Match between AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and Jake Hager.

Moxley wonders if Hager has what it takes to dig down deeper than him. Hager says that nobody is better suited for a No Holds Barred Match than him. Moxley then says that there is no scorecards or judges, Hager’s only option is to go through him. Moxley then tells Hager, “I’m going to f— you up.”

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we get a promo from Matt Hardy.

Matt Hardy is at The Hardy Compound, where he responds to Chris Jericho and his comments from last week. Matt Hardy says that Jericho made fun of The Elite, but he should look at the guys he surrounds himself with. Matt Hardy then says that the “Spanish God” Sammy Guevara is a false God. Matt Hardy then says that he will devour Santana and Ortiz. Matt Hardy then calls Jake Hager, “Jakenstein” and that he just needs two bolts in his neck to complete the process. Matt Hardy then says that he didn’t appreciate Jericho trying to recruit Vanguard 1. Matt Hardy then asks Vanguard 1 for Jericho’s shirt. Vanguard 1 then says that it’s a dumpster fire. We then cut to the shirt being burned in a fire pit. Matt Hardy then invites Jericho to come to The Hardy Compound to face him in a Elite Deletion Match.

We then get the entrances for the next match of the evening.
