AEW Dynamite Results (11/27): Chicago, Illinois

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite opens up with an intro video.

Commentary then welcomes us to the show and discusses all of the matches and segments that will be taking place on the show.

Le Champion Chris Jericho then kicks off the show with his Thanksgiving Thank You Celebration while Soul Train Jones was in the ring, along with a portrait of The Inner Circle as well as a few goofy mascots dancing outside the ring.

On the ramp was a marching band as AEW World Champion Chris Jericho (with the AEW World Title and a little bit of the bubbly) made his way to the ring. The crowd then with a “Thank You, Jericho!” chant.

Jericho then tells the crowd to shut up as the boos got going. He then tells the crowd to look under their chairs for a coupon to get fifty cents off his t-shirt. Jericho then shows off his “Little bit of the bubbly” champagne and actually has a website for it. Jericho and Soul Train then try it out.

Jericho then brings Santana, Ortiz and Sammy Guevara (who comes with gifts). Jericho then rips on someone in the crowd as they make their way down. Sammy then goes to talk and gets booed. Jericho then tells them to “shut up!” Sammy then thanks Jericho and then has a gift for Jericho. Sammy then unveils a cardboard cutout of Jericho and himself hugging, then they actually hug.

Santana and Ortiz then give some gifts, including something to help him avoid the flu, flip flops, a “little bit of the 40” (crowd chants “40!”) and then they put a Puerto Rico flag bandanna around his head. Jericho then wonders where Jake Hager is. Hager walks up from the back with an actual goat, “Chris Jeri-GOAT.” Jericho then finally asks what the giant present in the ring is. The wrapping paper is Jericho with the title. Inside is his dad, a former New York Ranger player. His dad gets on the mic and says “It’s so great to be back in New York City!” The crowd boos and Jericho lets him know they are actually in Chicago. We then get a “Let’s go Blackhawks” chant from the crowd. His dad then says that they beat them all the time and they were brutal.

His dad then says that the Blackhawks were and always will be wimps. He then gives out Rangers merch to the Inner Circle. The crowd then with a “Rangers suck!” chant. Jericho then has an official statement from the higher ups at AEW and TNT. He doesn’t feel like reading though and tells Justin Roberts to get in and read it. The crowd then with a “You can’t read!” chant. Jericho then says to Roberts, “What’s your name, kid?” Roberts then reads the “thank you,” about all of Jericho’s contributions to AEW. Jericho then says that he thought it was a nice “thank you,” but didn’t like Roberts tone. Jericho then slaps Roberts and the Inner Circle beat him up a bit. The “marching band” shows up and it’s actually SCU. They clear out the Inner Circle and then take out Soul Train Jones to end the segment.

Justin Roberts is out, which means that Dasha Gonzalez is stepping in to take over the ring announcing duties.

Tony Schiavone is out on assignment this week and is replaced on commentary by Marco Martinez.

Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent) w/ Orange Cassidy make their way to the ring, but are attacked from behind by The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix). Best Friends then quickly regroup and Orange Cassidy, dressed as a turkey, flies off the top turnbuckle to wipe out The Lucha Brothers. The commentators then make a joke about flying turkeys and appealing to the over 50 demographic.

Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent) def. The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix) via pinfall by planting him into the mat.

We then get a quick look at some of the official AEW rankings.

It is now time for some Women’s Division Tag Team action.

Jim Ross inappropriately uses the term “oriental” while Emi Sakura was making her entrance, but then immediately corrects himself.

Emi Sakura and Bea Priestley def. Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander via pinfall with a roll-up from Sakura on Statlander.

We then get a promo from Jon Moxley, who says that he is blazing a trail. He then says that he is napalm death as he will run through the AEW roster. Moxley then says that he wonders if anyone is out there that wants to get to him before he gets them. Someone who is crazy. Moxley then continues that he wonders if anyone wants to step up and be a hero. Moxley then says “go ahead, try it,” before heading off.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes makes his entrance. The crowd erupts for him. He has a giant scar over his right eye and his ribs are taped up.

Cody Rhodes def. Matt Knicks via submission with a figure-four leg lock. After the match, Cody grabs a mic and calls out MJF. A masked wrestler rises up from a hole in the ring mat. He takes out Cody and removes the mask. The commentator calls him The Blade and then The Butcher also emerges from the hole in the ring mat. Allie also comes up from the hole and is referred to as The Bunny by commentary. The Blade, The Butcher and The Bunny stand tall over a wounded Cody as we go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and it is time for PAC vs. Omega, while we are reminded of PAC’s win over Omega from All Out inside this very building.

Kenny Omega def. PAC via pinfall with a roll-up.

We then get a recap of last week’s Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal, which set up the next match between MJF and “Hangman” Adam Page for the Dynamite Diamond Ring.

MJF makes his entrance with Wardlow and cuts a promo explaining why he is better than Page and why he deserves the diamond ring. “Hangman” Page cuts a promo as well during his entrance. He says that he wants the 45K ring and needs a big win to hang his hat on. He then says that he is not much of a ring guy, but if MJF wants it so badly, he’ll shove it up MJF’s ass after he wins it.

MJF def. “Hangman” Adam Page via pinfall with a cross rhodes. After the match, DDP heads out to the ring to present the AEW Dynamite Diamond Ring to MJF. He gets on the mic and says why he is there. He then hands over the ring to MJF. MJF then takes it, puts it on his finger and gives it a kiss. Page then says that some of MJF’s actions have been very disappointing, but tonight he is the man (while slapping him on his shoulder). DDP then says “while I’m the bigger man, I’ll congratulate you like a man.” DDP then puts out his hand and MJF puts his gum in DDP’s hand. DPP then says “seriously?” MJF responds, “seriously.” DDP then gets in MJF’s face, but Wardlow gets in DDP’s face. DDP then says that he better get out of his face and a mini-brawl breaks out, but security and referees get involved before too much goes down.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and Dustin Rhodes is in the ring for an interview with Jenn Decker.

Dustin talks trash towards Jake Hager and says that he is out for blood. Santana, Ortiz and Guevara then quickly hit the ring and beat Dustin down to the mat like a pack of jackals. The Young Bucks then join the fray and all three faces join in on a superkick party. The Inner Circle are then set up for three separate Shattered Dreams in the corners. All sets of testicles are kicked in with authority.

We then cut to another Dark Order recruitment video, this time a little bit creepier than the one from last week. This one shows an actual meeting of the Dark Order and all of their potential pledges.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and Scorpio Sky makes his entrance. Commentary then reminds us that nobody from SCU or Inner Circle is allowed ringside for this AEW championship match. There is a 60-minute time limit, with about 15 minutes of television time left as the bell rings.

AEW World Champion Chris Jericho def. Scorpio Sky via submission with a lion-tamer to retain his AEW World Title. After the match, Jericho goes back to Sky and really locks in the lion-tamer. Jon Moxley’s music hits and Moxley comes out in the crowd and just stares at Jericho. Jericho then barks at Moxley, gets his title and taunts Moxley a bit. Moxley finally makes his way closer to the ring as the show comes to a close.
