AEW went ahead and taped this week’s AEW Rampage Grand Slam right after AEW Dynamite. AEW put on an excellent Dynamite show with the viewership of over 1.039 Million. The company had multiple segments planned for the Grand Slam show, and we are going to take you through them without talking about every match because you would want some suspense to watch the show on cable television.
Sting and Darby Allin vs Brody King and Buddy Matthews start the show. The Dark Order had to come and intervene as The House of Black tried to one-up their opponents. Matthews tried to hit Sting with a baseball bat but the lights went out and The Great Muta returned to wrestling. He spits mist in Matthew’s eyes who accidentally knocks out Julia Hart through a table. Sting and Darby Allin win the match.
Hook and Action Bronson defeated Matt Menard and Angelo Parker. There wasn’t much action in this match to even talk about so we leave you with the result directly. The same happened with Jade Cargill’s match who took on Diamante (with Trina) to retain the TBS Championship. Trina turned on Diamante and attacked her while joining forces with Jade Cargill.
Samoa Joe and Wardlow defeated Tony Nese & Josh Woods. Nese and Woods tried to one-up on the ROH TV Champion, but the TNT Champion made the save for his tag team partner. Jungle Boy beat Rey Fenix next, but Christian Cage returned and cut a heel promo before JB suffered a sneak attack from Luchasaurus. Christian said that Luchasaurus was his right hand of destruction before Luchasaurus powerbombed Jungle Boy.
Rampage has a backstage segment where the Jericho Appreciation Society reveals that there will be an appreciation event held on next week’s Dynamite. Daniel Garcia shows up, but nothing happens between him and the new ROH Champion. Sammy Guevera defeats Eddie Kingston in the next match. While it wasn’t the original outcome, when Kingston didn’t let go of the hold then the referee overturned his decision making Guevara the winner. Kingston slammed the security and went after the referee.
Hangman Page won the Golden Ticket Battle Royal and will challenge the new AEW Champion Moxley on the October 18 edition of Dynamite, which will air on a Tuesday. There were multiple contenders, but Page won while Rush, The Butcher, The Blade, Dark Order, Private Party, Danhausen, Dante Martin, Penta El 0 M, Brian Cage, Ari Daivari, Lance Archer, Daniel Garcia, Cole Carter, Best Friends, Jake Hager, Dalton Castle, Lee Moriarty, Matt Hardy and Jay Lethal were all eliminated. Rush was the in no rush to get eliminated, but he met his fate in the end making him amongst the top two in the match.
Ricky Starks defeated Powerhouse Hobbs in a Lights Out match when Starks speared Hobbs through a table before laying out Hobbs with his finisher. The show came to a close with this match, but some fans were already out of the arena before the AEW Rampage: Grand Slam.
