AEW Dynamite Results With Video (10/02): Debut Show On TNT

Before the show goes live, Justin Roberts makes his way down to ringside and welcomes everyone to the show. Roberts then introduces “Good Ole’ J.R.” Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, and Excalibur as the commentators for the show.

Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) then hype their Six-Man Tag Team Match against AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and Santana and Ortiz for the show.

We then get a Dark Match before the show goes on the air where Darby Allin def. CIMA with a Coffin Drop.

AEW Dynamite’s first-ever episode then opens up with the intro video and some pyro before Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes are shown passing in the front row. Jim Ross then welcomes us to the show and introduces his broadcast partners, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur. Commentary then discusses all of the matches that will be taking place on the show before sending us to a video package for the opening matchup which is Cody Rhodes vs. Sammy Guevara. Cody Rhodes and Sammy Guevara then make their way down to ringside for their matchup.

Cody Rhodes def. Sammy Guevara via pinfall with a small package. After the match, Schiavone gets in the ring to talk with Cody. An emotional Cody hugs Schiavone and goes to talk with him, but Guevara shoves Cody. He then puts his hand out and the two shake hands. From behind, Chris Jericho runs out and attacks Cody. Guevara just shrugs and heads to the back. Jericho drops Cody again, then lifts the title and smiles. He nails a codebreaker on Cody as we go to a split-screen commercial. Jericho taunts a bit more, goes to leave, but comes back and smacks Cody in the head with the title. Jericho grabs one of the ringside photographers’ cameras and takes a selfie. Cody out on the floor near the timekeeper table and gets whacked on the back with a chair. He then sets two chairs up next to each other and powerbombs Cody on the two of them. He then just dumps a bunch of stuff on Cody, yanks the mic from Schiavone, then shoves him as well. Jericho then says, “I am Chris Jericho and I am the champion of AEW. You’re welcome!”

MJF then makes his way down to the ring. He grabs a mic and tells the crowd that he is the fastest rising star. The crowd then chants “a-hole” to MJF. He then tells the crowd that tonight, you losers get the distinct honor of seeing how a star is born. MJF also says that Cutler clearly got lost trying to find his seat behind the guardrail, then MJF calls him a loser. MJF then tells Cutler that D&D might not be right, but what’s very real is that he is better than Cutler and he knows it. Cutler then makes his way down to the ring and their match is underway.

MJF def. Brandon Cutler via submission with Salt of the Earth. After the match, MJF forces Referee Bryce Remsburg to raise his hand and we go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes are interviewed at ringside.

Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes talk about Chris Jericho being in Jay & Silent Bob Reboot and how excited they are to be there when suddenly Jack Evans and Angelico rolls up. Jack Evans tells Jay that his hairstyle sucks, to which Jay tells them that they are not good enough to win a match. Jack Evans and Angelico are ready to fight but Private Party rolls up to help Smith and Mewes out and the heels back off.

Commentary then breaks down the bracket of the AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament.

We then get a promo video of SCU where Scorpio Sky does his best Barack Obama impersonation while Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian act like secret service guards. The promo then turns into SCU taking shots on Washington D.C. and Daniels and Kazarian putting the group over.

Live in the arena, SCU is interviewed on the stage. Scorpio Sky says that the big question for them has been which two of them will compete in the AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament and they have decided that it will be Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian.

The Lucha Brothers then interrupt and Rey Fenix gets on the mic. He says that he just wants to remind SCU of one thing – that they are the best tag team in the universe and Pentagon Jr. adds in a reminder that he is Cero Miedo. We then get a brawl between the two teams. Referees and security personnel then try to break it up. We then go to a commercial break as they get separated.

Back from the commercial break, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Chris Jericho, Santana, and Ortiz are shown backstage getting ready for the main event.

We then get the entrances of “Hangman” Adam Page and PAC, then head to a commercial break before their match begins.

Back from the commercial break and their match is in progress.

PAC def. “Hangman” Adam Page via submission with the Brutalizer. After the match, PAC holds on to the submission move for a little bit longer before the referee prys him off.

Dr. Britt Baker makes her entrance to join commentary for the AEW Women’s World Championship match, for which we get the entrances and go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and the match is in progress.

Riho def. Nyla Rose via pinfall with running knees to the face to win the AEW Women’s World Championship. After the match, Michael Nakazawa comes out with a microphone to interview Riho in Japanese. Rose comes back in the ring and destroys Nakazawa with a huge powerbomb. Rose then goes to hit a death valley driver on Riho on the apron, but Kenny Omega runs out to stop her. Rose heads off to the back.

We then get the entrances for the main event and go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and the match is underway.

AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and EYFBO (Santana and Ortiz) def. Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) via pinfall with the Judas Effect from Jericho on Matt Jackson. After the match, Cody runs out and swings away on Jericho. He then drops both Santana and Ortiz. Guevara runs out and low blows Cody. Dustin Rhodes then runs out and helps even the odds. He low blows Guevara. From out of nowhere comes Jake Hager (F.K.A Jack Swagger in WWE). He goes after Dustin, Cody, Nick, and Matt. He then hits a big vader bomb on Cody and a gut-wrench suplex on Dustin on top of the timekeeper’s table. Cody then gets picked back up and Jericho hits the judas effect. The heels stand tall as AEW’s first-ever episode of Dynamite comes to a close.
