AEW Dynamite Results (10/30): Charleston, West Virginia

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite opens up with Tony Schiavone standing in front of a plane talking about the contract signing for the AEW World Title Match between AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes at Full Gear. Dustin Rhodes and Cody Rhodes then step out of the plane and shake hands with each other before shaking hands with Schiavone. Cody and Schiavone then take a ride together to the arena for the contract signing.

We then get a video package recapping everything that took place between PAC, Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega and “Hangman” Adam Page leading to their respective matches at Full Gear including PAC and Jon Moxley’s match during last week’s episode of Dynamite ending in a time limit draw.

After Dynamite went off the air, PAC would then place a chair around Moxley’s neck and was looking to finish him off but Kenny Omega made the save. PAC would then bump into Hangman Page who let PAC know that they will meet at Full Gear.

An angered Moxley would then make his presence felt by talking with AEW CEO and President Tony Khan about his match against Kenny Omega at Full Gear being an Unsanctioned Lights Out Match, which means that it won’t count in the win/loss record. Moxley is really showing that he is mad that this match won’t count, despite him facing a top guy. Moxley then says that Khan just doesn’t want him to get a win over “his boy.” Moxley then says that whatever happens to Kenny Omega is on Khan’s head.

Commentary then welcomes us to the show and discusses all of the matches that will be taking place on the show before “Hangman” Adam Page and Sammy Guevara makes their entrances for the opening match of the evening.

“Hangman” Adam Page def. Sammy Guevara via pinfall with a Buckshot Lariat. After the match, Page gets on the mic and says that it is not a secret that things haven’t been going so well for him, but tonight felt good. Page then says that at Full Gear he will do some “cowboy s—” and take PAC’s head off. Crowd with a “cowboy s—” chant.

We then head backstage where The Rock ‘N’ Roll Express (Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton) bumps into Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) and gives them some necklaces.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we are just in time for the entrances of the next matchup.

Hikaru Shida def. Shanna via pinfall with a sliding knee.

We then get a video vignette of Brandi Rhodes, who has photos of the entire women’s division around her. Brandi is apparently some kind of a witch now. Awesome Kong then brings some blonde hair and cuts off a hunk of it. It then looks like Brandi is casting some kind of a spell as she screams and a wave blows out a bunch of candles in front of her.

Chris Van Vliet then introduces The Rock ‘N’ Roll Express on the stage. They then come out with the AEW World Tag Team Titles and start to talk about being back in West Virginia, but Santana and Ortiz attack The Rock ‘N’ Roll Express from behind. Santana has a loaded sock and smacks both guys. Crowd then boos as Santana and Ortiz check out the tag titles. They then pick up and slam Morton through a portion of the stage. The Young Bucks then run out to chase away Santana and Ortiz, then check on The Rock ‘N’ Roll Express.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and The Beaver Boys are chilling in the ring for some reason.

We then cut to Cody Rhodes and Tony Schiavone who are in a limo and on their way to the arena. Tony thought that Cody would be more nervous. Tony then recalls meeting Willie Nelson, then goes to talk about Dusty Rhodes. Tony says that he knocked on Dusty Rhodes’ door, then Dusty tells him to come in, but Dusty is naked. Dusty then asks if Willie is out there already. Tony then said yes and Dusty says that the superstar always comes out last. Tony then says that it is good to make them wait and that is what he wants Cody to do to Jericho. Cody then talks about his mom and how he just wants to impress her. He then comments about wanting to beat Jericho, noting that they have been in locker rooms previously.

We then head back to the ring where Rick & Morty introduces Best Friends and Orange Cassidy, who are dressed like them.

Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent) and Orange Cassidy def. The Beaver Boys (Alex Reynolds and John Silver) and QT Marshall via pinfall with Strong Zero from Best Friends on John Silver.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and AEW World Champion Chris Jericho makes his way down to the ring and takes a seat for the contract signing.

Cody Rhodes is then shown pulling up in his limousine and he takes his spot.

Tony Schiavone then introduces them and puts the contract in front of Cody. Cody then signs the contract and passes it to Chris Jericho, who fakes out a confrontation before saying that this match is too important to flip a table over or powerbomb Rhodes over. Jericho then says that this match is the biggest match in AEW history, the biggest pro wrestling match this year and the biggest match of Cody’s career, because if he wins, he will be what he has always wanted, a world champion.

Jericho then says but if he loses, it might prove to Cody and all these millennial jackasses here tonight that he is not as good as he thinks he is. So he is gonna sign the contract and show Cody what it is like to be a loser. Both competitors then get up and square up and Chris Jericho puts over how serious they are treating this and offers Cody Rhodes a hand. Cody shakes his hand but refuses to let go and pulls him in close.

Cody then says that there is something we can’t quite hear, then Jericho takes his glasses off before saying that he can be there all night but he might be needed elsewhere.

The screen behind them then shows Sammy Guevara before panning to Jake Hager beating Dustin Rhodes down and slamming him into a car. Hager then nails Dustin Rhodes with a lowblow with his knee. Hager then slams Dustin’s arm on the back door. Cody and MJF then make the save.

Chris Jericho then smokes a cigar and jokes about how they should take Dustin Rhodes to a hospital before bidding everyone a happy Halloween and driving off to send us to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we are just in time for the entrances of the next matchup.

We then get a video package on Kenny Omega as he comes out dressed as Sans.

The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) and Kenny Omega def. The Hybrid 2 (Angelico and Jack Evans) and Kip Sabian via pinfall with One-Winged Angel from Kenny Omega on Jack Evans. After the match, The Young Bucks slap hands with the fans. They then go up to two guys with Rick and Morty masks on, but they hold on to Matt and Nick’s hands. They then remove the masks and it’s Santana and Ortiz again. They yank The Young Bucks over the barricade and beat them up a bit, before Omega gets over there and get them to run. Omega then helps them to the back.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and “The Librarians” Peter Avalon and Leva Bates make their entrance.

Avalon gets on the mic and shushes the crowd a bunch of times. He then says that it is Halloween time and it is an appropriate time for the hideous monsters in the crowd to look like they do. Avalon then says that it makes sense why wrestling hasn’t been here in 20 years because it is rotten. Moxley then comes in through the crowd and hits a DDT on Avalon, kicking him out of the ring.

Moxley then gets on the mic to talk about Full Gear. Moxley says that when he beats Omega they are just going to pretend like it never happened. Moxley then says that he feels like AEW is trying to treat him like a freak and keep him in a little box. Moxley then says that there are these guys in suits always coming up to him saying “Jon, we know you’re a different kind of cat.” Moxley then says that he knows what that means and that it is an insult. Moxley then says that if this is how it is going to be, then he will just tell AEW to shove their win / loss record up their ass. Moxley then says that he will beat Omega within an inch of his life. He then tells AEW and all the suits in the back to kiss his ass and stay the hell out of his way.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we are just in time for the introductions of the main event.

SCU (Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky) def. The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix) via pinfall with a small package from Scorpio Sky to Rey Fenix to become the inaugural AEW World Tag Team Champions. After the match, SCU celebrate their victory as the show comes to a close.
