AEW Dynamite Results (11/06): Charlotte, North Carolina

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite opens up with an intro video.

Commentary then welcomes us to the show and discusses all of the matches that will be taking place on the show before PAC and Trent make their entrance for the opening match of the evening.

PAC def. Trent via submission with the Brutalizer. After the match, PAC gets on the mic and says that he is going to make an example out of “Hangman” Adam Page at Full Gear.

Commentary then sends us to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes makes his entrance.

Tony Schiavone welcomes him to the ring and Cody Rhodes begins by saying that he is not surprised at how blunt the arrival of The Inner Circle has been, or perhaps strategic as they have taken a scalpel to the Elite. Cody then says that they have been looking for a card they could match up against themselves and The Inner Circle found them. Cody then says that on Saturday he finds himself on the marquee, wrestling the world champion Chris Jericho.

Cody then says that he and Tony have spoken about it, but first he wants to rattle off a few names – Eddie Graham, “Cowboy” Bill Watts and The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. Cody then says that all of them were titans in the wrestling business, bell to bell and at the box office and those memories reverberate in our hearts, but for the cold and sterile historians of our business there is controversy because they weren’t just competitors, they were management.

Cody then says that he has spent the last year shouting to the rooftops about how proud he is of AEW and this is Ellis Island for pro wrestling, freedom. Cody then says that when he hears the same criticism attached to his name for being management and being in a title match, he can’t not hear it. Cody then says that with that said, he is announcing that if. Before he can finish what he was saying a “You deserve it!” chants ring out across the crowd and he pauses a minute.

Cody then says that if he loses, he will never challenge for the AEW World Championship again.

Cody then says that Jericho has taken to calling him an entitled millennial bitch, but he has never read about Y2J’s upbringing being so hard and as the son of an upper class hockey player, it is almost like they share the same silver spoon, you stupid dick. Cody then talks about Jericho dismissing every accomplishment he has ever made, but the dirty secret is that Jericho needs this generation more than this generation needs him.

Cody then says that this isn’t about his dad, it’s not about the dead, it’s about the living, his mom, his sister, his wife, the fourteen years it took for him to go from undesirable to un-goddamn-deniable. Cody then says that at Full Gear, he beats Jericho and becomes world champion and he should let his boys know the ground is rumbling because The Elite are coming and they are going to eat The Inner Circle alive.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and SCU make their entrance and join the announce team.

Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson) and Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) then make their entrances for their Tag Team Match.

Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) def. Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson) via pinfall with Gin and Juice on Stu Grayson to advance to Full Gear to wrestle for the AEW World Tag Team Titles.

Commentary then tosses us to a video that AEW World Champion Chris Jericho has sent in.

He is shown at a table listening to Sammy Guevara prattle on about him before getting up and kissing him on the forehead and leaving. Sammy then talks him up while we see Jericho chilling with some bubbly in the bathtub. Virgil then appears, billed as Soultrain Jones and talks Jericho up as do Santana and Ortiz and Patricia Bobski, who is apparently Jericho’s aunt’s friend from church.

Guevara then points out that Jericho is the youngest AEW Champion in history and Jake Hager is shown silently staring before Virgil says that Jericho is the greatest of all time. We then see footage of Jericho training and then talking about how hard it is to be as great as he is. Virgil then says that he is like Olive Garden breadsticks – unlimited. Hager is quiet once again.

Jericho then talks about figuring out the best place to go for bubbly and what a responsibility that is, but it is one he has to face because he is le champion.

Commentary then hypes up the card for Full Gear to send us to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we are just in time for the entrances of the next match, which is a Women’s Division Tag Team Match between AEW Women’s World Champion Riho and Shanna vs. Emi Sakura and Jamie Hayter.

Emi Sakura and Jamie Hayter def. AEW Women’s World Champion Riho and Shanna in a Women’s Division Tag Team Match via pinfall with La Casita from Sakura on Riho.

We then get another Brandi Rhodes video vignette. This time she is drinking wine in a red room, talking about how we tried so hard to paint her as a clown, but we forgot that she is not stupid. The image then flickers repeatedly, showing Awesome Kong as she talks about how with Kong’s body and her brain can they make us long for our worst nightmares. Brandi then says that she doesn’t run the women’s division and never wanted to and she has to ask – who are the bullies now?

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we are just in time for the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match between Brandon Cutler and Shawn Spears.

Shawn Spears def. Brandon Cutler via pinfall with a running Death Valley Driver. After the match, Tully Blanchard slides in a chair. Spears looks to drop Cutler on it, but Joey Janela runs out to the ring and chases him away. Janela then takes the chair and throws it at Spears. Spears then grabs it and goes to the ring, but Tully holds him back. Janela then yells at Spears to come to the ring.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we get a video package for Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley. A bunch of clips from last week is shown. We see a promo from Jon Moxley of him not being happy about his match against Kenny Omega being an Unsanctioned Match. We then see Kenny Omega saying that Jon Moxley isn’t really that mad about a hardcore match, but what was he going to do, chain wrestle him. We also see Moxley saying that he isn’t looking for an opponent to bring the best out of him, he is looking for someone to bring the worst out of him. We then see Omega saying that he is glad to go to that dark place and can’t wait to see Moxley there.

We then get the entrances for the main event but we go to a commercial break first before the match can begin.

Back from the commercial break and the match is underway.

The Inner Circle (AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara) def. Kenny Omega and “Hangman” Adam Page via pinfall with the Judas Effect from Chris Jericho on “Hangman” Adam Page. After the match, The Inner Circle beats up Page some more. Cody then runs out to get Jericho, but he gets away. Cody then pops Guevara and turns his attention back to Jericho. The two yell at each other as Jericho and Hager make their way up the ramp. MJF then runs out and hits a chairshot to Hager’s back, then hits Jericho in the gut and sends him back in the ring. Cody then hits a cross rhodes on the champ. Omega then rolls into the ring while Cody grabs the title and holds it up. Jon Moxley then comes out to the ring through the crowd with a barbed wire bat.

Moxley gets in the ring to face off with Omega while Cody looks on. Jericho then attacks Cody from behind and dumps him out of the ring. Omega then backs off as Cody, Jericho, Hager and MJF fight on the ramp. Omega then comes back in the ring with a barbed wire broom. The two look to battle, but Santana and Ortiz run in, knocking Moxley into Omega. The two beat on Omega and Moxley for a moment, but The Young Bucks run down and superkick the two out of the ring. They then hit stereo suicide dives and battle up to the stage. Matt then almost gets power-bombed off the stage, but Omega hits a v-trigger on Ortiz. Moxley then hits a DDT on Santana. Moxley and Omega then start fighting each other to the back. The Inner Circle and The Elite are all swinging away as Nick Jackson heads to the top of the entrance circle set and hits a senton down on everyone. “Holy s—!” chants from the crowd as The Inner Circle retreat back towards the ring while The Elite bark at them. Matt ends up charging down and everyone starts fighting again as the show comes to a close.
