AEW Dynamite Results (10/16): Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite opens up with an intro video.

Commentary then welcomes us to the show and discusses all of the matches that will be taking place on the show before SCU (Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian) make their entrance for the opening match of the evening. As SCU are making their entrance, they are attacked from behind by The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. and Fenix).

Fenix then rams Franke Kazarian into the ring post. Pentagon Jr. then hits a package piledriver on the ramp. Scorpio Sky then runs down to chase away Pentagon Jr. and Fenix. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) then come out to check on Christopher Daniels as he is being stretchered out by the medical team. Referee Rick Knox then says that Christopher Daniels can’t wrestle, so he will be replaced by Scorpio Sky.


SCU (Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky) def. Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent) via pinfall with a powerbomb / basement dropkick combo on Trent to advance in The AEW Tag Team Title Tournament.

We then go to a commercial break.

During the commercial break, we see the Inner Circle’s Santana and Ortiz enter the building,

Back from the commercial break, the Inner Circle’s Santana and Ortiz make their way down to the ring.

The Inner Circle (Santana and Ortiz) def. Beaver Boys (Alex Reynolds and John Silver) via pinfall with Street Sweeper on John Silver.

AEW World Champion Chris Jericho then appears on the tron and says that he likes champions and that is why Santana and Ortiz are in the Inner Circle. He then calls them pitbulls among pitbulls who will pick your pocket and kick your ass and that is why they asked him to say that they want a chance to beat the top team from before they showed up here in AEW and that is none other than the Young Bucks. Jericho then puts the Young Bucks over as one of the most incredible tag teams he has ever seen but they have never been in a fight similar to what Santana and Ortiz will give them on November 9th at Full Gear.

We then get a documentary-style video vignette of Cody Rhodes about how he is preparing for his AEW World Title Match against Chris Jericho at Full Gear to send us to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we are just in time for the entrances of our next matchup, which is an AEW Women’s World Title Match between Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D and AEW Women’s World Champion Riho.

AEW Women’s World Champion Riho def. Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D via pinfall with a crucifix pin to retain her AEW Women’s World Title. After the match, Baker doesn’t look happy, but she puts her hand out and Riho shakes it. Riho then celebrates a bit and heads off to send us to a commercial break.


Back from the commercial break and we get a recap of the opening match attack on SCU. Commentary then says that Christopher Daniels suffered a stinger after getting package piledrived on the ramp by Pentagon Jr.

We then get the entrances for our next match, which is another AEW World Tag Team Title Tournament First Round Match, but the action will have to wait until after the commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and the match is underway.

The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. and Fenix) def. Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt) via pinfall with Zero Mercy on Marko Stunt to advance in The AEW Tag Team Title Tournament.

We then go to a commercial break following a house ad on Full Gear.

Back from the commercial break and Jon Moxley cuts a promo during the ring entrances and talks about how he is hunting Kenny Omega and wanting his head on the wall.

Kenny Omega and “Hangman” Adam Page def. PAC and Jon Moxley via pinfall with Deadeye from Page on PAC.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and commentary announces that next Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite will feature Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) taking on The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. and Fenix) in an AEW Tag Team Title Tournament Semifinals Match, SCU facing Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson) also in an AEW Tag Team Title Tournament Semifinals Match, Britt Baker in action, The Young Bucks also in action and PAC locking horns with Jon Moxley.

The main event of the evening is now underway.

AEW World Champion Chris Jericho def. Darby Allin via submission with the Walls of Jericho to retain his AEW World Title. After the match, the rest of the Inner Circle head out to the ring to celebrate. They crack open a little bit of the bubbly as Jericho celebrates with the title in hand and the show comes to a close.
