WWE Hall of Famer and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle recently took to his “The Kurt Angle Show” and talked about how former WWE Champion and WWE legend “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar approached him back in 2007 when he was no longer under contract to WWE and asked him if he could join TNA Wrestling as well as how things never materialized because TNA was at the very peak of their budget at the time and they couldn’t afford to give out any more money, especially a talent who is worth seven figures a year.
This is what Kurt Angle said:
“Brock called me and he’s not in the WWE. He said, ‘Listen, man, can you get me in TNA?’ I probably shouldn’t even be saying this stuff but you know what? Brock doesn’t care. He said, ‘Hey, what are you making’, and I told him what I was making. He said, ‘If you can get me that, I’ll come.’ I approached TNA and they said, ‘No, we’re not gonna give him that kind of money.’ So it was amazing because I think that TNA at the time, I think they were at the top of their budget where they couldn’t give any more money out. You know, I was making a lot of money, Sting was making a good bit of money, and then you had a bunch of guys on the roster. TNA, you know, the Carter family funded it for a long time and then TNA started making their own money, but it just wasn’t enough to bring in another guy for seven figures a year. I just don’t think they were capable of doing that.”
The WWE Hall of Famer also talked about meeting WWE legend and 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena’s cousin Trademarc back in the day and how the rapper came up with his TNA entrance theme music.
This is what Kurt Angle said:
“I met Trademarc with John Cena back in the WWE and I knew he was a rapper and a musician. I came up with this song. It came from Vision Quest. It was called Lunatic Fringe and I wanted to make it my entrance music for TNA. So I asked Trademarc if he could come up with a couple of words, different phrases and catchphrases that I use and all that stuff for the song, and he did a phenomenal job. As much as I love my ‘You Suck’ music, this Lunatic Fringe music is really freaking cool.”
