On the July 24 episode of WWE SmackDown, Nick Aldis signed a contract to face GUNTHER at SummerSlam, relinquishing his General Manager duties in the process as Adam Pearce will now oversee both RAW and SmackDown. After the signing, GUNTHER taunted Aldis and put him through the table, warning that he would end his career like he did to Goldberg, AJ Styles, and John Cena.
