Seth Rollins revealed that WWE originally planned to break up The Shield at WrestleMania 30 with Roman Reigns wrestling Dean Ambrose and Rollins serving as special guest referee, but those plans were scrapped. When WWE eventually did book a Shield triple threat match at Battleground 2016, all three members fought against the idea because they believed it should be a WrestleMania main event, but they were overruled by their "overlord at the time, who is no longer part of this organization."
