Backstage News On Carlito’s Status With The WWE

WWE veteran Carlito made his return to the company at the 2023 Backlash Premium Live Event on May 7th from San Juan, Puerto Rico during the San Juan Street Fight between grammy-award winning music icon Bad Bunny and Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion “Senior Money In The Bank” Damian Priest. Carlito made his way down to the ring during the highly-physical matchup and helped the LWO as well as WWE veteran Savio Vega even the odds against The Judgment Day’s WWE NXT North American Champion “Dirty Dom” Dominik Mysterio and the other half of Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Finn Balor, who interfered in the match.

Carlito had reportedly signed a full-time contract with the WWE and was set to begin with the company in early July, with him making his return to television on the episode of SmackDown from MSG, but plans were nixed as a segment featuring the Bloodline ran long and they had to cut Carlito’s segment.

Dave Meltzer revealed on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that Carlito signed with the WWE at the start of July and he was already set to make his return to TV, but the company just could not figure out what to do with him and they still don’t know what to do with him. It was also mentioned on the report that Carlito even pulled out of all his Indie show bookings to give way to his WWE return, but just like Harry Smith who was signed with the company for a number of months, they ended up never doing anything with him.
