Backstage News On Seth’s Reaction To Punk’s WWE Return

Following the conclusion of the Men’s WarGames Match at Saturday’s 2023 WWE Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event from Chicago, former two-time AEW World Champion and WWE Champion CM Punk made his shocking return to the company and interacted with the hometown crowd, but not with any Superstars.

Once the show was officially over, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins flipped Punk off and had to be restrained by security, officials and other WWE Superstars as Seth was also telling Punk “F*** You” and was about to sprint down the ramp to attack Punk, who was by the stage area. Seth Rollins has been vocal in the past about not wanting CM Punk back in the WWE as they have bad history with each other, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise to think that Seth has issues with Punk returning.

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that Rollins’ reaction to Punk’s WWE return was just an angle based on the WWE World Heavyweight Champion’s past comments on Punk. It was also mentioned on the report that Rollins did say if the company wants Punk and it’s the right thing, then he doesn’t have a problem with it and that is why WWE figured they could do a shoot angle with it because it made perfect sense.
