Backstage News On Why WWE Has Been Teasing WrestleMania In London

Last Saturday’s WWE Money in the Bank Event saw WWE legend and 16-time World Champion John Cena shock the WWE Universe and the entire pro wrestling industry when he made a surprise appearance. WWE legend John Cena praised the crowd in London and teased the idea of WWE holding a future WrestleMania in the country. Cena was then interrupted by WWE SmackDown Star Grayson Waller, who would take some shots at London and the 16-time World Champion. This would then lead to some physicality between John Cena and Grayson Waller and would result in the 16-time World Champion hitting an AA to the WWE SmackDown Star to end the segment.

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that the reason WWE is teasing bringing WrestleMania to London is the company really wants that to happen, however they have been using the same strategy for a few years now of having cities bid on big events like WrestleMania due to the local economic boost that WWE’s events bring to the cities, but London is able to bring in tourists on its own and they are reportedly not willing to pay WWE to host a big show such as that in the city, which is why Clash at the Castle wasn’t held in London, so if WWE is not able to get enough fan interest for WrestleMania in London, then the city may consider having to pay to have it.
