When it comes to the pro wrestling circuit, there are no stories quite as compelling as those of the ring gladiators themselves — the most recent one being the tale of CM Punk’s departure from WWE and the subsequent rumors it has ignited. Yet, despite fan speculation, Ringside News exclusively uncovers that CM Punk is no closer to a WWE return than he was post-departure.
There is no denying that WWE fans on Monday Night RAW were fervid in their hope for a momentous CM Punk return, stirred by what they believed were references to the wrestling superstar. To add intrigue to their hope, Seth Rollins, a known critic of Punk within the locker room, is said to have possibly pitched the idea to Triple H. However, the buzz surrounding such speculation can be firmly put to rest – WWE and CM Punk are not currently in talks nor is a CM Punk match on the WWE calendar.
While fans have been busily imagining a Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk showdown at WrestleMania 40, it seems that this dream will remain strictly in the realm of fantasy. Ring titan Seth Rollins and CM Punk do indeed cut impressive figures against the backdrop of fan-created WrestleMania 40 graphics, but sources confirm to Ringside News that this is not in the pipeline.
Repoiting also discerns the main event matches for WrestleMania 40, both nights, are already decided, with the Women’s Title matches also firmed up. Regrettably for CM Punk fans, he does not appear in any of these plans. Despite the WWE’s apparent lack of interest in a Punk comeback, an opportunity could still present itself in the form of Impact Wrestling, but only time will tell how that pans out.
Even if the WWE is not eager for a Punk reunion, one notable name within the organization expressed a different sentiment. Shawn Michaels, WWE Hall of Famer, has openly stated that he would welcome Punk in NXT.
Ultimately, the question that hangs in the air is – will CM Punk ever return to the WWE? The near future doesn’t show any signs but in the wrestling circuit, where drama is the daily bread, never say never.
