Current Plans For Seth Rollins’ WWE SummerSlam Opponent

WWE’s next major Premium Live Event known as SummerSlam is less than four weeks away, but the company has yet to officially announce even a single match, though they already have a main event in mind and that is Jey Uso challenging Undisputed WWE Universal Champion “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns for his Undisputed WWE Universal Title. It has not been announced yet who WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins will defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against, but the WWE already has a suitable opponent in mind.

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that Finn Balor taking on Seth “Freakin” Rollins for his WWE World Heavyweight Championship is what’s planned for August 5’s WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event despite Rollins already defeating Balor at earlier this month’s WWE Money in the Bank Event. Meltzer also noted that Balor will not be competing in the main event of WWE NXT’s Great American Bash against WWE NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes and Ilja Dragunov, which takes place a week before SummerSlam despite pinning Hayes this past Tuesday night on WWE NXT TV because they are trying to build him back up and get him ready for Rollins and WWE can’t have Finn Balor lose prior to his showdown at SummerSlam.

Meltzer then noted that he is unsure whether WWE will make the match at WWE NXT Great American Bash a Triple Threat Match with WWE NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes, Ilja Dragunov and a third person, whether it may be Balor or not, but he is sure that Balor will face Rollins at SummerSlam.
