Dominik Mysterio Reveals He Wasn’t Under contract With WWE During His 2020 SummerSlam Match

Dominik Mysterio, son of pro wrestling legend and current WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio, has been a part of the pro wrestling business since he was young kid growing up. Dominik was the center of one of the most personal and emotional storylines in the history of the company involving his father Rey and WWE Hall of Famer Eddie Guerrero.

Dominik made his WWE in-ring debut at the 2020 WWE Summerslam Premium Live Event, when he took on top WWE Star Seth “Freakin” Rollins in a Street Fight. The Judgment Day member recently appeared on Lucha Libre legend Konnan’s “Keeping It 100” podcast and revealed that he wasn’t under contract with WWE at the time of his WWE SummerSlam Match with Seth Rollins and that he was being paid on a per-show basis and that continued until that year’s WWE Payback Event, which is when he was officially signed to the WWE.

This is what Dominik Mysterio said:

“Actually, it was before I went on contract (was the payday that took me by surprise the most), because I was getting paid per show… I did SummerSlam without being on contract. So I got paid for that pay-per-view… We were in the middle of negotiations so it was all kind of being handled at the time. But in good faith, I was like, ‘Yeah dude, I’ll do it.’ This is an opportunity of a lifetime so I jumped on it but after that SummerSlam and that following — because I did SummerSlam and then Monday Night Raw and then that following week, we did Payback when I tagged with my dad for the first time, like back-to-back, so I got two pay-per-view checks and a couple TV checks in one sitting and that’s when I was like, oh sh*t. This is pretty crazy.”
