NBA legend Dwight Howard, who is currently a free agent after playing in the sport for several years, had a conversation with TMZ Sports about his interest in joining the WWE down the line in case a team in the league doesn’t offer him a contract for the upcoming season as the eight-time NBA All-Star did already appear at a WWE tryout in Nashville, Tennessee back in July.
This is what Dwight Howard said:
“Of course, no doubt.” “I like wrestling.”
Dwight Howard also spoke about if he was asked to decide between competing in the NBA or the WWE what would his choice be and if he would like to perform as a face or a heel.
This is what Dwight Howard said:
“Whatever opportunity’s best.” “I’d be the good guy sometimes and the bad guy sometimes.”
Following the WWE’s tryout in Nashville, Tennessee back in July, Howard spoke to ESPN’s Arash Markazi on how he would hopefully be in the ring in the future and hold a WWE Championship.
This is what Dwight Howard said:
“Hopefully one day in the future, I’ll actually be in the ring, wrestling and holding up a belt.”
WWE’s Executive Vice President for Talent Relations and Head of Creative Paul “Triple H” Levesque had a conversation with Sporting News this past week about Dwight Howard possibly joining the WWE and how the ball is in his court as well as how he’s just waiting for Dwight Howard to call him and they will see what can happen.
This is what Triple H said:
“The ball’s in his court.” “It’s a funny thing, Dwight, in the conversations we had was like, ‘You know, I really want to do this. I’m serious, I really want to do this.’ We hear that a lot, and there’s a difference between saying, ‘I want to do this,’ and putting in the grind and doing the work to get there.”
“[He] came by our tryouts in Nashville, was incredibly entertaining. Jumping in promos by himself and then with others, incredibly entertaining. Really driven to want to do this, it’s just a matter for him, he’s got a lot of things going on, right? So when he says,’ Hey I want to give this a shot,’ he’s got my phone number. All he’s gotta do is call me, and we’ll see what can happen. And if he’s willing to put in the grind and the drive that guys like Logan Paul, and Bad Bunny and Tyson Fury are willing to put in, then let’s go.”
