Brian Pillman Jr., who competed for All Elite Wrestling for a number of years, was spotted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida this past month for a tryout after his contract with All Elite Wrestling expired. It was then teased at the time that Pillman Jr. will sign with the WWE despite few rumors circulating online and on social media that WWE is impleting a hiring freeze until after their merger with the UFC is completed.
According to reports, there is no hiring freeze going on in the WWE and instead they are limiting who to bring in until after their merger with the WWE is completed, though it was believed at the time it is less likely that WWE would bring Brian in until after the merger. PWInsider.com reports that Brian Pillman Jr. is set to be at tonight’s episode of WWE NXT on the USA Network, but there is no word yet on whether he will appear on the show itself or just be in a topic of conversation. It was also noted on the report that while not yet confirmed, Pillman Jr. is believed to have signed with WWE.
Tonight’s episode of WWE NXT will see WWE NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio defend his WWE NXT North American Championship against Dragon Lee, Bron Breakker face Von Wagner in a Singles Match, Noam Dar take on Tyler Bate in a “Heritage Cup” Match for the “Heritage Cup” Championship and Mustafa Ali battle Axiom in Singles action.
