Former WWE Star Rick Boogs Sheds Light on Release, Reveals End of Noncompete Clause

In an unexpected turn of events, Rick Boogs, known to many as Eric Bugenhagen from WWE’s NXT brand, was ‘released from the ropes’ last month. The star, who made his grand debut on Friday Night Smackdown back in May 2021, claims that his abrupt release followed a backstage political power struggle in the wrestling giant.

Rumors in the wrestling world indicate that there might have been some sort of grudge against the wrestler within the corporate ranks of WWE. Boogs himself has fueled these speculations, hinting at a “weird grudge” during his addresses after his departure from the company. However, he remained tight-lipped about the specifics, citing his ongoing noncompete clause with the company.

In a recent workout video, the pro wrestler came forth explaining that he’s not at liberty to divulge any information regarding his stint at WWE for the time being. “I know people are like, ‘You’re not in WWE anymore, let’s talk about it.’ I can’t guys. I’m technically still under contract for three months,” Boogs shared with fans.

The date which will mark the end of the said clause is December 21st, interestingly his birthday. On this day, Boogs will officially be released from his contract with WWE, presenting a remarkable birthday gift for the star. “My birthday is December 21 and as a birthday present, I’m free from my contract, basically. My birthday December 21, that’s when I’m free from my contract. Until then, I’m still under contract,” Boogs stated.

While wrestling insiders and Ringside News exclusively reported on the disbelief echoing backstage in WWE after Rick Boogs’ revelations regarding a political power play, we can only speculate what the future might hold for him. It seems quite clear, though, a WWE return doesn’t seem likely any time soon. Will the former Eric Bugenhagen find triumphant successes elsewhere once December 21 rolls around? Only time will tell.
