From Pioneer to Champion: Ricochet Reveals True Feelings on WWE Speed’s Innovation

## WWE Speed’s Groundbreaking Launch and Legacy

When WWE introduced its fast-paced social media show WWE Speed on X (formerly Twitter) in 2023, they needed a performer who could set the tone for this innovative format. That performer was Ricochet, whose high-flying arsenal and lightning-quick style made him the perfect inaugural competitor.

## Ricochet’s Mindset: Building Something New

In a revealing conversation with Adrian Hernandez, Ricochet dismissed any notion that being booked on WWE Speed was a step down from main roster programming. Instead, the former WWE Speed Champion saw it as an opportunity to create something revolutionary:

> “You’ve got to look at everything as an opportunity, and if you don’t, then I think you’re already kind of defeated. You have to look at everything — especially, you know, they [WWE] were putting something into this, and I wanted to be a part of building something again, making it as big as possible.”

## Historic Achievements on WWE Speed

The high-flyer’s involvement with the program led to several milestone moments:
– First-ever WWE Speed match against Dragon Lee
– Inaugural victory on the platform
– Became the first WWE Speed Champion by defeating Johnny Gargano

## The Championship Legacy Continues

Though Ricochet’s reign ended in a loss to Andrade before his WWE departure, his pioneering work helped establish WWE Speed as a legitimate platform. The show has since expanded to include a Women’s Speed Championship, currently held by Candice LeRae, while Dragon Lee carries the men’s title that Ricochet once possessed.

## Looking Forward

As Ricochet now blazes new trails in AEW, his perspective on seizing opportunities and building new ventures remains inspiring. His willingness to embrace innovation and help establish WWE Speed demonstrates why he’s remained one of professional wrestling’s most versatile and valuable performers.

Will WWE Speed continue to evolve and possibly influence how wrestling content is presented on social media platforms? Only time will tell, but Ricochet’s role in its foundation cannot be understated.
