GUNTHER Was Set To Be Buried After The July 4 Episode Of RAW

WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER has come a long way since making his debut on the main roster a number of months back, but he was initially set to be buried and sent back to the NXT brand by former WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon following the July 4 episode of WWE RAW as Vince McMahon soured on him for some reason. It was on that episode that GUNTHER had an Independence Day segment with R-Truth and that would lead to a match, where GUNTHER would come out on top, but there was nothing wrong with what took place during the segment or the match.

WrestleVotes told GiveMeSport that the former WWE Chairman didn’t like what he saw on that episode of WWE RAW as far as GUNTHER goes and Vince legitimately wanted to bury him and send him back to NXT. It was also mentioned on the report that when Triple H took over WWE’s creative everything changed as he sees GUNTHER differently from how McMahon saw him and he even views the WWE Intercontinental Champion as someone that can main event major WWE Premium Live Events, with his match against Sheamus at Clash At The Castle helping a lot with that perception.

This is what WrestleVotes said:

“I know that Vince McMahon just didn’t like what he saw on Raw and was over him, like legitimately wanted to bury him, go back to NXT, that type of stuff.”
