WWE held their 2023 WWE Royal Rumble Premium Live Event last Saturday night from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, with the show featuring 5 massive matches and the 30-Man Royal Rumble Matchup kicking off the show. The match had a couple of surprise entrants such as two-time WWE Hall of Famer Booker T and social media Superstar Logan Paul and the match even featured a number of top WWE Superstars such as WWE Hall of Famer Edge, former WWE and WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and the eventual winner “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes.
The Beast Incarnate had a brief encounter with WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER before mixing it up with “The All Mighty” Bobby Lashley, but that did not last long either as Lashley eliminated Brock Lesnar in mere moments and after being eliminated, Lesnar destroyed the ringside area and even tossed a referee over the barricade.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Brock Lesnar received some backstage heat for several unplanned spots in the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match and those spots even caught a few people by surprise such as the steel steps spot since a couple of people who were ringside for the bout weren’t prepared and didn’t know it was coming. The report also mentions that another spot that was unplanned was when Lesnar tossed part of the announce table, but one source noted that they knew a freak out was planned and since it is Brock Lesnar, their mindset was to expect anything and everything.
It was also stated on the report that the spot that got Brock Lesnar a bit of heat was when he tossed referee Eddie Orengo over the barricade as aside from it being unplanned, it looked like Brock Lesnar may have legitimately hurt the referee’s foot, but there’s no word yet on if the referee actually got hurt, though he did sell the injury until he returned to the back.
Another source within the WWE said that it is now a new regime and there are new set of rules, so The Beast Incarnate will not be getting into any kind of trouble and he certainly won’t be fired, similar to what happened to Cryme Tyme and since heat is a relative term nowadays especially for someone like Brock Lesnar, he might not even get reprimanded for it. The same source then stated that they are not even sure if anyone involved was mad or not, but some people backstage were.
