Pat McAfee’s WWE Return Was A Shock To Everyone In The Company

This past Saturday night’s WWE Royal Rumble Premium Live Event featured a number of huge moments such as the surprise return of Pat McAfee to the WWE. According to PWInsider.com, McAfee’s return was kept very close to the chest to prevent the news of his return from leaking out and that is the reason why even Michael Cole said he had no clue McAfee would return and was even in the arena after speaking to him earlier in the day and why Michael Cole’s reaction was legitimate.

The report also mentions that the WWE even went as far as to keep the majority of the production team in the dark, but there were a certain few who were expecting McAfee to return as the college football season has ended and it was always known that he would be back in the WWE once his duties at ESPN was completed.

There is no word yet on if McAfee will be added to the SmackDown announce team alongside Michael Cole and Wade Barrett, but two-time WWE Hall of Famer Booker T did reveal on his podcast a while back that he will be aa full-time commentator in NXT, which is a role Barrett previously had.
