R-Truth Triumphs, Gunther Retains, and New Women’s Tag Champs Crowned on WWE RAW – Full Results & Day 1 Show Updates

WWE fans witnessed an action-packed RAW on December 18, 2023, as the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, IA came alive with thrilling matches and earth-shattering announcements. The commentary team, led by Michael Cole and Wade Barrett, navigated the audience through a night of intense competition and dramatic storylines.

The evening saw a unique “Loser Leaves Judgement Day” Miracle on 34th Street Fight where R-Truth emerged victorious against JD McDonagh with an impressive Top Rope Splash. The Intercontinental Championship match ended with Gunther successfully defending his title against The Miz with a commanding Powerbomb. The stipulation added gravity to the match, stating that if The Miz lost, he would never be allowed to challenge for the title as long as Gunther reigns as champion.

Kayden Carter & Katana Chance triumphed over Piper Niven & Chelsea Green to claim the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Their signature After Party finisher sealed their victory and ushered in a new era for the women’s tag division. Meanwhile, Ivar dominated Tozawa with a remarkable Top Rope World’s Strongest Slam, and Jey Uso outlasted Ludwig Kaiser, clinching the win with the high-flying Uso Splash.

The Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship showcased the dominance of Judgement Day, as Damian Priest & Finn Balor outperformed The Creed Brothers, Julius & Brutus Creed, maintaining their hold on the titles with Priest’s devastating South of Heaven.

The excitement only escalated as the show set the stage for WWE RAW’s Day 1 2023 Special, announcing three new bouts. Nia Jax will face Becky Lynch in a highly anticipated singles match after a heated verbal exchange on RAW. Jax, who declared herself for the Women’s Royal Rumble, skillfully evaded Lynch’s challenge, agreeing to settle their differences at her home town event in San Diego.

A challenge for the WWE Women’s World Championship has been confirmed with Ivy Nile slated to face the formidable Rhea Ripley. Following a backstage segment with Alpha Academy, Nile secured her title shot against a visibly furious Ripley, who insists on defending her gold at the Day 1 event.

Fans are also eager for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship #1 Contender match, pinning Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark against Natalya & Tegan Nox. After a series of discussions among the contenders, it was clear who will vie for the chance to face the new champions, Carter and Chance.

The current card for the WWE RAW Day 1 show on January 1, 2024, is now taking shape. With the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line between Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins, and several other high-stakes matches planned, the event promises to kick off the new year with a bang.
