WWE’s next Premium Live Event known as SummerSlam is set to take place tomorrow, August 5 inside Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, with the Premium Live Event set to air on Peacock in the U.S. and the WWE Network everywhere else. Tomorrow’s WWE SummerSlam Event will feature 4 main event matches, including Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns putting his Undisputed WWE Universal Title on the line against Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat Match and Brock Lesnar facing “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes in Singles action.
Other top matches confirmed for tomorrow night’s WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event includes WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins defending his championship against Finn Balor, Logan Paul facing Ricochet in Singles action and Ronda Rousey battling Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules Match, but one match that will not be taking place at tomorrow’s SummerSlam is Becky Lynch vs. WWE Hall of Famer Trish Status as it was revealed on WWE RAW this past Monday that the match will happen on next week’s show instead of tomorrow’s Premium Live Event.
It was speculated that the reason for this is Trish Stratus was not medically cleared to compete, but there is no truth to that as both women are cleared so they could have the match tomorrow if asked to do so. According to Fightful Select, WWE has been adamant about the runtimes of the matchups on their Premium Live Events and that is why some of the matches that were teased or built for SummerSlam will not be happening. The report also indicates that there have been talks of the Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch Match taking place at Payback in September and if the match did push through at SummerSlam then the runtime would have been severely limited, thus the decision to move it, but the wrestlers and the fans are still unhappy about it as they feel a match such as this should take place on a huge Premium Live Event and not just a regular episode of RAW.
Dave Meltzer stated on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that time constraints is also the reason why the Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez Match is not scheduled for SummerSlam but there is still a possibility that they can fit the match on the show.
