In the world of pro-wrestling, alliances can either make or break you. Amidst swirling rumors and backstage politics, it seems the WWE may have hinted at an intriguing restructuring of the Latino World Order (LWO). The catalyst for this upheaval appears to be centered around Rey Mysterio, Santos Escobar and Carlito, following a series of incidents.
The tensions were kicked off on the November 10 episode of SmackDown, when Carlito took Escobar to task for leaving a set of brass knuckles on the ring apron at Crown Jewel. This alleged neglect caused Logan Paul an unexpected victory over Mysterio for the US Title. Escobar didn’t take the accusation lightly, retaliating by attacking Mysterio and accusing him of favoring Carlito over him.
The feud didn’t end there as Escobar ‘explained his actions’ only to shout at Zelina Vega, subsequently attacking Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde before Carlito stepped in for the save. This leaves certain alliances in flux. For example, even though Escobar attacked Del Toro and Wilde, it doesn’t necessarily mean the pair will abandon him. They’ve been allies for years since their NXT days as Legado Del Fantasma.
The plot thickened at two untelevised WWE live events in Tupelo, Mississippi, and Jonesboro, Arkansas, past this weekend. Fans witnessed Carlito, Del Toro, and Wilde teaming up to take down Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits, suggesting that, for now, there is no ill-will between Carlito and the other two. Still, alliances can shift as the storyline unravels on TV.
Meanwhile, Rey Mysterio is noticeably absent from the action, undergoing an estimated six to eight weeks of downtime due to legitimate surgery. This has been weaved into the storyline, pinning him as a victim of the Escobar-led attack. Yet, speculation is rife that we may see Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo reemerge from NXT stints to join Escobar’s side, balancing the odds.
The resolution of this high-stake feud will undoubtedly match the level of build-up it has received, as the wrestling world ramps up in anticipation.
