One of pro wrestling and the WWE’s biggest star in Sasha Banks walked out of the company prior to the May 16, 2022 episode of WWE Monday Night RAW due to frustration over creative, revealing that she and fellow former star Naomi did not feel respected as a team and that they even felt unsafe working with specific WWE Superstars inside of the squared circle. Sasha Banks and Naomi were then stripped of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles and their profiles were removed from the official company roster page and they were also removed from the company’s intro videos prior to the shows. Banks and Naomi would even remove WWE from their Instagram profiles and Naomi would also remove WWE from her Twitter bio.
Following their releases being granted, Mercedes Moné (Sasha Banks) would end up in NJPW, while Naomi (Trinity) would end up in IMPACT Wrestling, where she is the current IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts World Champion. Triple H taking over the WWE’s creative for quite some time now brought significant changes to the company such as several former WWE Stars being brought back, with CM Punk being the latest big star to be brought back.
According to Ibou of WrestlePurists, who has broken a number of stories in the past, Banks may return to the WWE, but noted this was not a formal report just yet and the situation should be monitored. He also revealed that Banks was expected to work in AEW once she is medically cleared to do so, but only a handful of people in AEW have updated information on the status of the promotion’s partnership with Moné.
