Top NJPW Star That WWE Is Interested In Will Be A Free Agent

Over the years, WWE has signed the industry’s biggest names in the history of Japanese pro wrestling, but they have their eyes currently set on possibly one of, if not biggest name in all of NJPW. Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reported that Kazuchika Okada’s contract with NJPW is set to expire at the end of January 2024 and while contract negotiation talks with NJPW is something that could happen, Okada is open to the possibility of competing for a different promotion.

It was also mentioned on the report that AEW is another top promotion that could end up signing Okada to a full-time deal as The Rainmaker has already wrestled for them a number of times, thanks to their business relationship with NJPW. Okada competed on Dynamite this past October and that allowed him to get a better sense of AEW, which could help him in his decision of where he will end up.

WWE’s success with talents like Tajiri, Shinsuke Nakamura, Asuka, Kairi Sane and reigning WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY could translate in them securing Okada and with Okada being close with Nakamura, the idea is The Rainmaker could end up in WWE since it has an easier wrestling style on his body compared to NJPW and it is the one thing he has yet to do despite his huge success in other promotions.
