Vince McMahon Had No Say In CM Punk’s Return To WWE

Immediately following the Men’s WarGames Match at Saturday night’s 2023 WWE Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event from Chicago, which saw the team of “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes, reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins, “The Apex Predator” Randy Orton, Sami Zayn and “Main Event” Jey Uso get a huge win over Drew McIntyre and The Judgment Day’s Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Finn Balor and “Senior Money In The Bank” Damian Priest, JD McDonagh and reigning NXT North American Champion “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio, former 2-time AEW World Champion and WWE Champion CM Punk made his shocking return to the company.

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent Wrestling Observer Radio Program that WWE President Nick Khan made the call to bring Punk back to the company with the support of Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Vince McMahon had no say in it whatsoever. It was also mentioned on the report that the deal came together about 10 days ago and it was a secret from almost everyone to the point that even the higher-ups from TKO only knew about it when they watched last Saturday’s event as they are there to focus on the business side of things, not the creative.
