Wrestling Updates: Johnny Gargano’s Return, Jade Cargill’s Presence at WWE Fastlane, and More

In a thrilling return to this past Monday’s WWE RAW, Johnny Gargano, after a long hiatus due to injury, reunited with Tommaso Ciampa to reestablish their notorious D.I.Y team. Gargano took to Twitter to thank fans for their unwavering commitment to ‘D.I.Y. “I know how excited y’all are. We are too. Thanks for believing and holding out hope for us and now that it’s finally time.. let’s freaking kill it,” Gargano stated. PWInsider cited that his comeback was a late decision made just last weekend by the WWE executives.

Meanwhile, the wrestling world is buzzing with news of the former AEW star Jade Cargill’s slated presence at WWE Fastlane 2023 this coming Saturday in Indianapolis. WWE officials confirmed that Cargill, signed by WWE in September, has been scheduled to make an appearance, though no specifics were provided if she’ll be appearing on-screen or backstage.

Dominik Mysterio won the title of NXT North American Champion this past Tuesday, defeating Trick Williams, who now holds the all-time record for the shortest reign as the champion, lasting only three days.

In more global wrestling scenes, Major League Wrestling’s original antitrust lawsuit against WWE, filed in February, was dismissed. However, an amended lawsuit was lodged in March. A hearing, scheduled for October 26th, will determine if WWE’s defenses against the lawsuit will be allowed to proceed.

Rhea Ripley, on Monday’s WWE RAW program, announced that Damian Priest would be missing his match against Jey Uso due to medical issues, though no further information was divulged. According to RAW commentator Wade Barrett, Erik, out of action since September, will be sidelined for the “foreseeable future,” but no specifics were shared on his injury status.

Moving on to the business world, Endeavor and TKO Group announced CEO Ari Emanuel’s appearance at the upcoming Bloomberg’s Screencast conference on October 11th. In addition, WWE is making major strides abroad with the announcement of next year’s Elimination Chamber set to be held in Perth, Australia on February 24, 2024. This event is expected to generate a whopping 33 million Australian dollars, contributing significantly to Western Australia’s economy.
