WWE Declined Edge’s Request To Re-Sign Him, Will Go To AEW

WWE Hall of Famer “The Rated R Superstar” Edge revealed on WWE TV last year that he wanted to end his legendary in-ring career this 2023 at a show in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and that WWE show just so happened to take place on an episode of WWE SmackDown last Friday night, where the Rated R Superstar faced Sheamus in a Singles Match and celebrated his 25th year in the business.

Edge’s WWE contract was reportedly set to expire this September, with his final match taking place on SmackDown last Friday night, but the WWE Hall of Famer revealed in an interview that his bout against Sheamus was indeed his final match in his WWE contract, though his contract with the WWE won’t expire until October and it has since been speculated whether he will truly retire, re-sign with the company or go to AEW.

According to Wade Keller of PWTorch, WWE Hall of Famer Edge presented the WWE with what it would take to keep him in the company, but the WWE declined to meet the Rated R Superstar’s request and this has led to a number of people within the company to believe that he is probably headed to AEW and knew at that time what AEW could and would offer him. WWE Hall of Famer “The Rated R Superstar” Edge is close friends with Christian Cage and AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR and having him in AEW will certainly be a huge deal for the company.
