The world of professional wrestling is abuzz with speculation after WWE superstar, John Cena, hinted at a possible match change scheduled for WWE Fastlane 2023.
Scheduled to take place on October 7, 2023, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse arena in Indianapolis, Indiana, the initial announcement was for Cena to face off in a 2-on-1 handicap match against The Bloodline’s Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa. On a recent episode of SmackDown, though, these plans seemed to be shifting.
The Uso-Sikoa duo had relentlessly attacked AJ Styles backstage, making it clear that the predicted tag team match for Fastlane, featuring Cena and Styles against Uso and Sikoa, was unlikely to happen. The show was originally supposed to end with LA Knight making a grand save, hinting towards a Knight-Cena team up against Uso and Sikoa at Fastlane. Unfortunately, LA Knight was pulled from the show at the eleventh hour due to a positive COVID-19 test.
Cena recently took to Twitter to stir things up, responding to a fan dressed as him for “Dress Like A Celebrity Day,” he wrote, “I DO need a tag team partner for WWEFastlane.” This hints at the possibility that Cena is exploring the idea of a tag team match against Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa.
However, the uncertainty on Knight’s recovery and his potential availability for Fastlane leaves much to speculation. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this development.
Meanwhile, the action at WWE Fastlane 2023 won’t be limited to Cena’s predicament. WWE has also announced a Last Man Standing match between Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura, with the World Heavyweight Championship hanging in the balance.
