WWE Hasn’t Reached Out To Austin About A CM Punk Match

As previously reported, the pro wrestling world has been clamoring for a dream match between WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin and CM Punk, who made his shocking return to WWE at Survivor Series, for quite some time now and we could be getting just that in the near future.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select stated a few days ago that there were several people in WWE pushing for a Steve Austin vs. CM Punk Match down the line, so much so that The Best In The World already had discussions about the dream match.

It was also noted on the report that a lot of people in the promotion are hopeful and optimistic that the match could finally happen as many ideas have already been floated around between CM Punk and WWE and the ideal situation would be for Punk and Austin to meet and go over ideas for the match, but the two sides still need to get through a lot before the matchup can happen. People close to Steve Austin said they have not heard him mention he has any personal issues with Punk, so it is unclear what they need to get through.

Dave Meltzer revealed on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that Stone Cold has not yet been approached about the match and it is not because WWE feels the match will not happen and it has anything to do with money, but it is more about does Austin still want to do it at his age and will he have enough time to get into proper in-ring shape.

For now, Punk is slated to feud against WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins and the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion “The Tribal Chief”Roman Reigns.
