WWE Legend Rey Mysterio Reportedly Injured

Rey Mysterio, who is considered as the greatest luchador of all time, was recently moved to SmackDown following months of mental and physical anguish at the hands of The Judgment, which includes his son, Dominik Mysterio. Rey appeared on WWE Friday Night SmackDown a few weeks ago and told Triple H he was quitting the company because he can no longer endure what his son has been putting him through. Later in the same episode of WWE SmackDown, Rey Mysterio would win a #1 Contender’s Match for GUNTHER’s WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Mysterio would challenge GUNTHER on a recent episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown for his title, but would unfortunately come up short following a highly-physical matchup. Mysterio has now been put in a tournament called SmackDown World Cup, where the winner will earn a title shot at GUNTHER, but he has reportedly been injured and will be out of action for an undisclosed amount of time.

According to Ringside News, Rey Mysterio was seen backstage during last Friday’s WWE SmackDown and he was wearing a walking boot, but the fact that Rey was able to make it to the show bodes well for him. It was also stated on the report that the reason how Mysterio got injured is still unknown, but a WWE source noted that the good news is the injury does not appear to be something that will keep Mysterio out of in-ring action for an extended period of time and that it is just a “short term injury.”
