Xavier Woods Pitches Classic 5v5 Survivor Series Match Amid GM Tension

One Big Thing

WWE Superstar Xavier Woods has proposed bringing back the traditional 5v5 elimination match format for Survivor Series 2024, capitalizing on the growing tension between RAW GM Adam Pearce and SmackDown GM Nick Aldis.

Why It Matters

The classic Survivor Series elimination matches have been a cornerstone of WWE programming since 1987, but recent years have favored WarGames matches instead. A return to tradition could reignite fan interest and create compelling brand warfare storylines.

By The Numbers

• Survivor Series 2024 will take place at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC
• Traditional format features 5 wrestlers per team
• Last traditional Survivor Series elimination match was in 2021

The Details

The Setup

• Adam Pearce shared a cryptic photo of himself post-phone call on RAW
• Nick Aldis responded with a seemingly antagonistic tweet
• Pearce fired back with direct hostility: “Nicholas, if I wanted shit from you, I’d scrape your tongue”

Woods’ Proposal

Woods tweeted in all caps: “YOU GET 4 AND HE GETS 4. 5V5 AT SURVIVOR SERIES. PLEASE LETS HAVE A SURVIVOR SERIES MATCH WITH SOMETHING ON THE LINE.”

Current Status

• Pearce responded with a “thinking” emoji
• WarGames match is confirmed for the event
• No matches officially announced yet

Looking Forward

While WarGames is confirmed to return, the possibility of including a traditional Survivor Series match could add another layer of excitement to the premium live event.

What do you think about bringing back the traditional 5v5 elimination match format? Would you prefer to see this alongside WarGames, or should WWE stick to the newer format? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
