TKO’s Mark Shapiro Admits Back-To-Back Las Vegas WrestleManias May Have Been A Mistake
TKO President Mark Shapiro admitted that bringing WrestleMania back to Las Vegas for a second consecutive year may have been a financial mistake, despite still defending the decision. Shapiro acknowledged that returning to the same city back-to-back removed the "first mover" effect that WWE typically benefits from when rotating WrestleMania to different markets each year, and noted that WrestleMania 42 had softer ticket sales compared to WrestleMania 41. The decision to return to Las Vegas also resulted in WWE moving the originally planned New Orleans location, while WrestleMania 43 is set to take place in Saudi Arabia in 2027 as the first WrestleMania held outside North America.
