AEW Announces Details For First Universal Studios Dark TV Tapings

All Elite Wrestling recently announced on their official Twitter account that the company’s first set of TV Tapings for future episodes of Dark is this Saturday, September 11 from inside Soundstage 19 at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. There will reportedly be two TV Taping sessions with the first session taking place from 12PM – 3PM and the second session taking place from 4:30PM – 7:30PM.

Tickets for both tapings have already been made available and are free to the general public, but the tickets must be reserved at the links provided below.

AEW President Tony Khan previously noted that he was planning to find a new venue for the weekly Dark TV Tapings and that Dark: Elevation will be made to a shorter show as the show will be taped prior to Dynamite, instead of Dark. Khan also noted that the plan is to tape Dark: Elevation prior to Dynamite and Rampage after Dynamite, but to air Rampage live from time to time for important shows such as go-home episodes of PPVs.

According to Khan, the plan going forward is to tape Dark at Universal Studios as the idea is for AEW Dark to primarily be a studio format show, but there will still be some episodes taped in arenas. The company has not yet announced if they will only tape episodes of Dark at Universal Studios or if they plan to tape other shows in the future, but updates will be provided once it has been made available.

As of this writing, no match has been announced yet for the upcoming TV Tapings, but wrestlers listed on the promotional graphic include “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy, Powerhouse Hobbs, Thunder Rosa, Eddie Kingston, Wardlow and FTW Champion Ricky Starks.

TNA/IMPACT previously taped their shows from three different Sound Stages at Universal Studios, which they referred to as The IMPACT Zone. They used Sound Stage 21 from 2004 – 2013, and then Sound Stages 19, 20, and 21 after they returned from touring up until they went back on the road in April of 2018. The company was not allowed to charge fans to attend the shows and All Elite Wrestling will be having a similar agreement with Universal.

There’s no word yet on if AEW’s plan to tape Dark from Universal Studios will affect their time slot, but Dark currently takes place every Tuesday night at 7PM ET on AEW’s official YouTube channel.
