Cody Announces AEW Signed Boxing Olympian Anthony Ogogo

During Southside’s recent 9th Anniversary Event held in the U.K., All Elite Wrestling Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes made a surprise appearance and even made a huge announcement that the company has signed former English boxing Olympian Anthony Ogogo.

In 2012, Anthony Ogogo won a bronze medal in boxing’s Middleweight division at the London Olympics. Just 4 years later, Ogogo would officially retire from active competition in the world of boxing with a professional record of 11-1.

Ogogo already has a little bit of experience in the world of pro wrestling as back in February of this year he made his official pro wrestling debut in his hometown of Lowestoft, England for World Association Of Wrestling (WAW). Ogogo even spoke to the Eastern Daily News about transitioning to a career in pro wrestling.

During episode 12 of AEW’s Road to Double or Nothing Youtube series, Cody Rhodes spoke about recruiting Ogogo and there was even a story told of Ogogo’s boxing career.
